Hope for Trevor: Heart & ACTA2 Surgery Fund
Donation protected
Hello friends and family,
This year we received life changing news, Trevor has tested positive for ACTA2. This is a very rare and aggressive mutation that makes the soft tissue in his body prone to aneurysm, and is specifically aggressive on the heart.
Things have moved fast, after a significant amount of MRI’s and tests it was discovered that Trevor has an aortic aneurysm. Without surgery to repair or replace his valve, his aortic valve would dissect.
Sadly, our family is no stranger to this horrible mutation outside of learning the name. Trevor lost his mom Judy and cousin to aortic dissection both were taken much too soon. Other family members have also undergone this procedure to help beat this mutation. It’s is because of these family members that we were made aware of the option to do genetic testing, and because we have the option to seek treatment that Trevor has a chance to protect himself against this mutation and have the opportunity to live his life.
As much as we would rather be planning our wedding and future this has taken over our lives. To know Trevor is to love him, and also know that this man loves to bike and be active. As we wait for this surgery to happen Trevor has had to limit all strenuous physical activity. Surgery is currently schedule for early January at the Mayo Clinic. Trevor will undergo open heart surgery to repair his valve.
During this difficult time, we are asking for financial help with medical bills, the extended stay in Rochester, and temporary unemployment. While the unknown is scary we are encouraged by the opportunity this surgery offers us. Thank you for taking the time to check in with us.
With Gratitude and Love,
