Hope & Healing for Patricia: Stage4 Breast Cancer
Donation protected
Please note that Patricia's cancer is now stage 4 / metastatic. Having failed the clinical trial, she is now considering hospice.
From Patricia:
Like most parents, I have lived my life caring about my kids more than myself. I have always been a very positive person and tried my best to see the cup half full. I have always tried hard to trust God through everything.
In October 2021, my worst fear became reality when I was diagnosed with triple negative, stage 3 breast cancer. I have never felt so scared or this much pain, nor have I been so discouraged as I have in the last three months.
I have always been a very busy person, working since I was 15 years old to help my parents pay bills. I have been trying to be so strong and keep my kids’ lives as normal as possible, but after over a dozen tests, biopsies and doctor appointments, I realized I can't do this alone. I still have ongoing chemo treatments, upcoming surgeries, numerous doctor appointments, treatments, scans, labs, tests, and radiation – months of treatments yet to come.
It is hard to be that strong, single parent I am used to being when I am so sick and not capable of working as much as I always have. I still want to be the best parent I can be. I want my kids to see that even in hard times, we can trust in God, and we can still have hope for better days.
Thank you so much for letting me share my story with you.
From Katie:
I met my beloved friend, Patricia, in 2008, both of us in the throes of a dark time in our lives. Together, we figured out how to find hope and new beginnings while raising our young children. Thirteen years passed like a minute, and then I got the devastating news: the lump Patricia had found in her breast was cancerous – a very aggressive form of breast cancer called triple negative. Stage III. I think my heart broke in that moment – even more so when I saw how fast the tumor was growing, despite her chemo treatments.
Even with health insurance, the expenses are overwhelming for this hard-working, single, loving mother of two. It’s surprising that more financial assistance isn’t available for such a life-threatening disease. Although Patricia continues to work as much as time and energy will allow, the bills are piling up. Between frequent medical appointments and the toll of chemo, finances are distracting from her recovery. She needs to slow down and allow her body to heal – no small thing to ask of such a strong, independent person.
Few people have touched my life like Patricia. I know many would say the same thing about her; she is such a special person. That is why I am privileged to share her story with you. You can help Patricia get the best care – to give her HOPE and HEALING to overcome her cancer diagnosis – by offering your prayers and your financial support. No amount is too little, and all donations are directly deposited to Patricia.
