Hope Over Borders- Relief for Ejisu Besease

We’re Kiera and Jaime and are both of African Descent. We decided to embark upon this project to give back to our community. Not only does it give all our benefactors the chance to make a positive difference in the lives of others, but it also allows them to be a channel of mercy unto the less privileged across the Oceans without their physical presence. The disparity between the haves and have-nots in society becomes a disincentive for the poor to make it in life. Unfortunately, there are many individuals and families in our world who are living in poverty and struggling to make ends meet. Our organization, Hope Over Borders, is devoted to helping those in need at Ejisu-Besease, a farming community located within the Ejisu Municipality of the Ashanti Region of Ghana, West Africa. The project aims at providing access to clothing, footwear, and school supplies, among others. This project is one we feel passionate about. Of course, this vision cannot be met without public support. Fundraising becomes an integral part of the process to reach our goal of purchasing school supplies and other essential items for the targeted population. No contribution is too small and yours could make a big difference! Again, this project could not be done without you, so thank you in advance for your kindness.

Background- Kiera, currently a 2nd year High School student, was raised by Ghanaian parents. Her maternal grandparents (both retired academics) who were born and raised in the small town of Ejisu-Besease, inspired her to start this project, believing that, if they went through the odds to make it in life, others can do it given the desired support. As she frequented Ejisu Besease growing up, the town is like a second home to Kiera. However, a visit in the summer of 2022 challenged her to be a bit more concerned about the plight of the underprivileged in society. She perceived hope for the future staring at the faces of the children, but this could easily fizzle out without the appropriate support. To turn this around, the town needed various resources- especially for the youth. Consequently, she decided to start this project, Hope over Borders, with the help of her good friend, Jaime.

Anticipated costs include:

-Buying school supplies for elementary-aged kids. textbooks, calculators, notebooks, leisure reading books

-Providing footwear for Alter Servers

-Shipping costs

-Supplies and toys for kids at a local Madonna Clinic

-transportation of supplies to the targeted community

-donation of seed money to local school to serve as revolving fund for ongoing school project(s)
