Hope TV for Malawi Prisons - 2nd phase
Donation protected
Since 2018, Lilongwe Central Seventh-day Adventist Church in collaboration with Malawi Adventists in the UK (MAU) and their affiliates (FCC-UK, Wonderful Voices choir) and many well-wishers, held their hands together and installed 12 TV sets at Maula Prison in Lilongwe (the largest prison in Malawi) and four TV sets at Kasungu Prison. The prison inmates have been able to watch Hope TV programs because of this initiative.
Coupled with frequent visitations to the prisons by church leaders, the Adventist message has reached many inmates and large numbers have been baptised into the Adventist faith. The two prisons now have regular Sabbath worship services with over 200 baptised members meeting every week. A Master Guide class was launched at the Maula Prison and the first ever prison investiture was conducted in March 2024 with nine inmates invested.
Most of the TV sets initially installed have broken down and are not functioning properly. Lilongwe Central Church in conjunction with Hope Channel Malawi would like to revive this outreach program by replenishing the broken equipment with better and more durable models as well as extend the outreach program to other prisons in Malawi such as Mzimba Prison in the north. The Seventh-day Church in Malawi has the permission from the Prison Authorities in Malawi to extend this project to many other prisons in the country.
There is a total budget of MWK 24.6 million (USD 15,000 / GBP 12,000) for this phase of the project. You can watch the video below for more details. God bless you as you plan to give generously towards this cause.
