The world fell in love with Arthur Wornum when he was first introduced to the national TV audience on the reality show "Biggest Loser", Season 11. He made us laugh. He made us cry. He made us root for him to shed the hundreds of pounds that kept him from being the man he knew he was destined to be. Arthur is a loving husband and adoring father to his young kids, Imani & Junior. He has been an inspiration to thousands who also share weight loss struggles.
Everything changed for Arthur just three weeks before Christmas when he was rushed to the ER. His heart was in distress and his body was overcome with swelling from the buildup of excess fluid. He would spend several weeks in the ICU in critical care. Arthur was in danger of loosing his life.
What had led to this moment? Following his appearance in the national media, Arthur became overwhelmed by the pressure of being in the public eye. Just eating out in restaurants would result in hateful mean spirited comments in social media. Over time, Arthur began to isolate himself, unable to cope with the comments from the public. Eventually, the weight came back, and before long, Arthur would rarely leave the house. It would take a crew of many to help transport Arthur to the hospital for emergency medical care.
Life saving medical care has given Arthur his life back. And it's a life he knows he is meant to live. If there's anything we, his family, know about Arthur, is that he's a fighter! Shame and embarrassment may have overcome Arthur to the point of isolation, but his determined courage will power his rise to health. In the weeks to come, Arthur will undergo physical therapy to help regain his strength and mobility. This care is a crucial part of his path to wellness.
With this care comes an enormous financial burden for Arthur and his wife Heather. On behalf of this sweet, young family, we are asking for your support. No donation is too small.
Arthur and Heather have been moved to tears by the kind words of support and prayers shared with them so far. Our family adores Arthur and recognizes that it takes great courage to share his story of personal struggle.
On behalf of Arthur and Heather's extended family, thank you for your open hearts and kindness. Wishing you a New Year filled with health, happiness & love.
