Hope for Zahir - Special Needs Stabbing Victim

Donation protected
Zahir, an adorably cute and severely impaired 6-year-old with cerebral palsy and a feeding tube, was recently the victim of a brutal and violent attack allegedly caused by his own father on February 2, 2021.

The details of the attack are not something we want to highlight, but instead our focus is on making sure Zahir, who is currently in pediatric intensive care, ultimately finds a loving and appropriate "forever home" to care for him as he deserves, as his father was the only person in his life before this event.

Currently, Zahir is in stable condition, but he's not out of the woods yet. He's suffered numerous extensive injuries, including one puncture wound that "scraped his heart," according to the detective handling this case.  Just knowing that a spastic quadriplegic child with no ability to purposely move their arms let alone defend themselves was attacked like this is soul crushing.

What's most heartbreaking is not just the pain and suffering Zahir was forced to endure, but the fact that he's now alone in this world.  No one to hold his hand and kiss his sweet cheeks by his hospital bed. Zahir, once again, finds himself fighting to recover from injuries that didn't need to occur.

Although we've been informed that there are some blood relatives alerted to Zahir's condition, we have no ability to know if they are suitable caretakers for such an extraordinary child. We fear Zahir will be lost in some system that doesn't prioritize the complex needs of a child like Zahir nor have the infrastructure to give him the 24-hour care he not only requires, but deserves.

Our hearts are shattered for so many reasons right now, but the loneliness Zahir must feel is the most painful realization for us. One that is almost too hard to think about, but if Zahir can fight, how can we not?

We don't know if the hospital will allow it but we want you all to send letters of love and encouragement to Zahir in the hopes that someone at Harlem Hospital Center gets them and reads them to Zahir so he knows he's loved by thousands! We don't know any other way to help so this is something we hope you'll take some time to do with us and share in your feeds. Here's the address:

Due to covid, hospitals have all kinds of new restrictions so we feel cards, pictures and signs are best to send. Flowers and balloons are often discouraged due to various allergies of patients. In the end, we don't care what you send, as long as you send something to let Zahir know the world is cheering him on! Let him wake up to a new life and new hope that seems nonexistent right now! #hope4zahir #beahero

As for this fundraiser, these funds will be held and used specifically for Zahir by Holton's Heroes 501(c)(3). The founders or Holton's Heroes have a personal relationship with Zahir and his father. Our intention is for Zahir to receive 100% of the donations donated via this fundraiser.

Holton's Heroes, a national nonprofit for pediatric brain injury survivors,  will oversee the use of these funds so that they can assure the funds are used appropriately. The goal of these funds will be for medical care, therapy devices, and anything to do directly with the Zahir's quality of life.

Since Zahir's father, Tyree, who had full custody and was the only person in his life up until this horrible event, has lost his parental rights we are not comfortable simply giving these funds to the next blood relative in line or to a foster family that might not adopt him. Instead, Holton's Heroes will appropriately distribute and retain oversight of how the money is spent for accountability purposes, but these specific funds will only be used for Zahir and his needs.

We appreciate your support for this incredible and perfect little boy. #hope4zahir
