Here's my first post once I learned of my cancer diagnosis:
On December 31st I chose my "word" for 2015 ... that word happened to be hope and what an encouragement it has been to me already.
Hebrews 6:19 - "We have this HOPE as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure."
For the past several years I have struggled with finding medical reasoning/answers behind symptoms and tests that have taken place. Today, after testing, procedures and lots of prayer, I received a diagnosis. Last Thursday I went in for several medical procedures regarding my liver and today those tests provided results. This afternoon I received word from my GI doctor that I tested positive for liver cancer (apparently the best kind I want to have according to the doctor-- although it is rare). This is unknown territory for my family and I, but one thing is known and that is we serve a big God who answers big prayers.
I have been blessed over the course of the years with the most wonderful family and friends a girl could ask for. I wouldn't be where I am today without all of you and the parts you've played in my life ... and now, more than ever, I covet your prayers. This site may be vague as it is early on and I don't know what it looks like from here. What we do know is this:
I have tests this week to determine if the cancer has spread or if it is confined to the liver (and how big it is, etc.).
I have a meeting on Friday with the doctor to discuss my next steps -- removal, etc.
Surgery will be in the near future. Please pray for the doctors and surgeons as they discern the best course of treatment. We know that surgery will be necessary but are working through those details. Please pray that the cancer that is in my body is easily found and removed and/or that there is miraculous healing. Please pray for the details and next steps (for those of you who know me ... I'd like to have all of this planned and figured out right now!). Please pray for my parents as they travel to be with me and as they navigate this journey by my side.
I don't know how to end these types of things so I'll end it with this:
"So be truly glad, there is wonderful joy ahead. Even though you have to endure many trials for a little while." - 1 Peter 1:6
