Horace's Legacy: A Fight for Justice and Farewell

Hi. I really hate having to do something like this, but not sure where else to turn to for help. It will be somewhat of a long post, so please bare with me.
My dad, Horace Lee Lindsey Jr., passed away unexpectedly on July 2nd, 2024. He had been in the hospital for the previous couple of weeks due to an infection in his foot. He'd been dealing with his foot being sore for a little while and made an appointment with his PCP.
All she ever did for him was refer him to a specialist, and that appointment wasn't until 3 weeks after he last visited. He told me it was sore, but he was still up and moving around, so we waited for the appointment as she suggested.
The day of the appointment came and, unfortunately, my dad couldn't find his insurance card, so he rescheduled his appointment, putting it another month away. However, instead of waiting this time, I looked at his foot myself and decided to take him to the hospital in Sunnyvale (Baylor) right away on Tuesday, June 12th.
They gave him 2 very strong antibiotics (finally), and set him up with a different specialist for the following week, but told us that if it wasn't better in a couple of days to come back to them. On Friday, June 15th, he text me while I was at work saying it was really hurting him, so I went home and took him back to the hospital.
He was admitted at that point, and was moved to the Baylor in Dallas the following day. They tried their best over a couple weeks to get the infection under control, but were unable to. He ended up having to have his foot amputated on June 24th, plus an additional surgery on June 27th to complete the process. He came through both surgeries fine and was doing well and on his way to recovery.
On Monday, July 1st, we went to see him, and he was in good spirits and was ready to be moved to the rehabilitation center. We were told that he would be covered by insurance for up to 20 days, but that he likely would only need about 2 weeks.
He was moved to CC Young on the evening of July 1st. I called to check on him that night, and the nurse told me he'd been doing well since he got there and was resting, so I told her not to wake him and that I would see him in the morning.
The next morning, my son and I were driving to see him when we got a call saying there was an emergency with him. I told them we were on the way, but when we got there, we were told there had been a cardic event, and they were unable to revive him, that he had passed away.
I am at a loss. My dad was one of a kind. He was a father figure not just to his own children, but to many of his nieces and nephews, and his grandchildren as well. He took care of everyone his entire life. I feel like when it was time for someone to take care of him, they failed to give him the antibiotics he needed early on, which allowed his illness to progress.
I am starting this go fund me to help cover some of his funeral expenses, and to help find a lawyer to see if I have some kind a recourse to get him some type of justice. I feel in my heart that his PCP should have done more to help him. It shouldn't have been left untreated for the weeks leading up to his specialist appointment, because at the time of the appointment, it had already progressed too far to realistically have a shot at saving his foot.
Again I hate asking for help like this, but my dad deserves the best, and I need help to make sure that it happens. If it is within your means, please consider helping to cover his funeral expenses, and hopefully also find justice for him.
