Hailey Jones, Young Girl Attacked by Rotweiler
Donation protected
Hello and thank you for reading. I'm Jenna Hipp Spencer, godmother to Hailey Jones- a bright, beautiful 15-year-old girl who was attacked by her friend's pet rottweiler on Sunday, January 29, 2023.
Meet Hailey:
The ultimate animal lover, Hailey loves dogs and cats, though her favorite animals are donkeys and horses. She dreams of opening a rescue farm someday or working alongside animals in some way. She's a 4.0 sophomore student, about to get her driver's license and join the high school tennis team. She loves to read, hang out with friends and play board games with family. Hailey is full of love and light and she's keeping her spirits up, even after all she's been through.
Here's What Happened:
It's a terrible thing. The attack happened Sunday afternoon, January 29, 2023. Hailey was spending time at a friend's house, as she often does. Out of nowhere, the family pet rottweiler attacked her face, locking down on her nose, lip, and jaw. Hailey was rushed to the local ER and transferred to the Children's Hospital, 2 hours away.
She suffered several puncture wounds and lost a lot of blood. The most severe was a nearly deadly laceration to her neck, missing her jugular by centimeters. Miraculously, her teeth, jaw, and eyes were okay, but her nose was almost completely torn from her face. It's unsure if she'll ever be able to regain feeling in her nose or fully smile on her left side, but the surgeon working with her is excellent, and our hopes are high.
What's Next:
Moving forward, Hailey and her family will face a difficult road. She will need multiple reconstructive surgeries to repair her face and neck damage, various treatments, and therapy for the trauma of the attack.
All donations for Hailey will help cover the following expenses starting from the date of her attack, 1/29/23, throughout potentially her lifetime.
- Multiple surgeries & treatments
- Trauma Therapy for PTSD and night terrors
- Commute to Children's Hospital is 2 hours away in Portland + lodging expenses when overnight stays are necessary
- Out-of-pocket copays and costs not covered by insurance
- Extensive physical therapy for her neck, back, and facial muscles.
Hailey's mom Amanda has been my best friend since we were 14 years old. She's a hospice nurse in Oregon. This is an incredible family who could benefit greatly from any assistance you can spare. Even if you can't donate now, please send a prayer of thanks and gratitude as the situation could have ended very differently, and much worse. Every wish and good thought makes all the difference.
With all my heart, thank you,
Jenna Hipp Spencer
