Horse Driving Coach, Steve Wood injured driving

Donation protected

My name is Lisa. I’m a longtime client of Steve Wood from Wildwood Sleigh and Carriage. Steve was injured earlier this week in a driving accident when the horse he was driving got hung up on a tree and in the melee, brushed against a branch and his bridle came off. The carriage flipped over and Steve shattered his humerus bone requiring surgery. He could be out of work for 6-8 months while it heals. Many of you know Steve. He has been an important part of the horse community in and around Minnesota for years.  Steve is one of the hardest working, most ethical and kind people I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He would give you the shirt off his back. As a friend and student of Steve’s, I ask that you help us give back to a great mentor in his time of need. Give a little or give a lot. Any amount would be greatly appreciated. Let’s help make this awful time a little more comfortable for Steve. Thank you for your kindness!

An update from Steve regarding the accident.

Hi gang,

I got a replacement phone today. I was not able to get all my latest pics and info back but I can call, text, etc now.

An update, I landed on my phone and wrecked the screen. I have no bruises,  or cuts, or scratches. My helmet worked like it should.

My shoulder is a mess.  My right humerus pushed up lengthwise and splintered around the ball of the joint. The ball is in pieces. We waited for a surgeon who can decide when he opens up if he will replace or repair the joint. All indications point to replacement.  We see the surgeon on Monday,  and surgery is scheduled for Thursday .

Preoperative physical on Saturday and ekg.

Currently no pain, but I'm pretty useless.  Much help has been offered, and I will take each of you up on it when the time is right.  Thanks for that.

Please, don't drive your horse without a double crown adapter.  Available at comfyfit, built into a new browband, available at big black horse as bridle add ons, and available at Samson harness as a custom build for draft and regular horse size.

I won't ride in your vehicle if you don't have one on your horse.

Every judge I have talked to about my  horses and my clients horses wearing them ha applauded me for adding a safety item and all said they would never dock any horse for wearing them.  Don't let your friends tell you they don't need one because they have a gullet strap. These will hold the bit in the mouth  even if the bridle is in front of the ear. Azul shook his head sideways and the bridle flew off to the left. He let me steer him for a,while with the bridle pulled up to his chest, but a gopher mound launched me and the rest is history.

Get one on your horse now!

I want this to be standard equipment on a driving horse bridle before my career is done. The queens horseman is on-board,  how about you? Help me make this happen.
