HOSA ILC Fundraising

HOSA’s mission is to empower Future Health Professionals to become leaders in the global health community, through education, collaboration, and experience. HOSA actively promotes career opportunities in the health industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people.

At the end of March, our HOSA team, including Chloe Jaske, Mia Cruz, Marissa Esparza, Bethzy Hernandez-Medina, Emily Hynes, and Serena Bhakta competed with other HOSA members from schools all around the state in health-related events at Kansas State University, and we got first place in our Mental Health Promotion team event and qualified to compete in Houston, Texas at the International Leadership Conference this June.

We are currently seeking sponsors and donors to help us get to Houston so we can represent Kansas and Wichita. The conference is 4 nights and due to current travel plans, we will stay in 2 different hotels, one on the way to Houston, and one during the actual conference. The hotel costs would come out to around $200 since 3-4 students will be in a room. On top of this, the registration fee is $90 per student. Overall, we anticipate that it will cost each student $800-900 to cover the cost of the hotel room, registration fee and additional travel costs (district fees, transportation, gas, etc.). Our goal is to raise $6,000 to cover the costs for all 6 competitors before the ILC deadline, May 15, 2024.

We are so incredibly passionate about mental health awareness, especially to the youth of our dear Wichita communities. This is the second year we have gotten this privilege by achieving the award of 1st place. During our promotion, we were actively engaged in the community through mindfulness projects, awareness through social media, and effective outreach.
