Hospice Care for Dennis Goss

Hi, my name is DeeDee Goss and I am asking for help. My dad, Dennis (Denny) Goss, is reaching the end of his life. He is at end stage congestive heart failure among many other health problems. He is currently hospitalized, however the doctors are saying he needs hospice care as he doesn't have much longer to live. Medicare covers all of his personal needs for hospice, however they only cover 1 hour a day for a home health aid/technician and a nurse one hour twice a week if he were to come home. They will cover all care in a facility except his room and board. My mother has her own health issues as well as she helps care for my 8 year old niece full time and my 15 year old nephew. She is unable to care for my father 23 hours a day as in South Carolina, when someone comes home on hospice, it is illegal for the person to be left alone. Home health aids run anywhere from $20-$35 an hour. My niece needs to be picked up from school and taken to and from her gymnastics. The stress of trying to figure out what to do is causing my mom to become sick. Due to these circumstances, my father cannot come home on hospice. I am asking for assistance to help us pay for his hospice care in a residential facility. The facilities want money up front and we were told by his doctor today that most facilities want approximately $9,000-$10,000. If he passes before the money is used up, the remaining balance will be refunded. My mom is retired and on a fixed income. My brother works full-time at a job that pays just over minimum wage. I am unable to assist much financially due to my own monthly bills. If you know my father, you know he has a very large personality, and this new reality is very difficult for him to reconcile. The picture is from 6 years ago and he looks very different now. The hospital is trying to get him out as soon as possible, and as of now, we cannot afford either option (if home was an option).
