hospice of the good Shepherd
Hi my name is Ross, I'm running the Chester Triple this year (2024) to raise money for the hospice of good Shepherd.
The races consist of the 10k (March 10th), the half marathon (May 19th) and the full marathon (Oct 6th). This is all new territory for me due to the fact the only race I have ever completed was the Chester 10k (2023) and since then the furthest i have ran is 11 miles (A hard 11 miles might I add).
The Hospice of the good Shepherd has been looking after a very good friend of mine. The level of care that the Hospice gives to the patients is unbelievable. Whenever I go to visit the staff are so polite there is always someone there waiting to offer a tea and coffee. The nurses are constantly popping in and out, checking up on my friend asking if he need or wants anything. You just get the feeling that they genuinely care instead of it just being a job. Oh and there sticky toffee pudding looks out of this world.
At Christmas 2023 I seen by chance that the Santa Dash proceeds go to the Hospice of good Shepherd, so last minute me and my 7 year old daughter ran the santa dash and managed to raise just under £200 .
The feeling of doing something and trying to give a little back is something I have never felt before. The hospice was very grateful towards me for when handing in the donations from the Santa Dash and that was a feeling that I have never felt before.
Since the Santa Dash I have looked alot into the Hospice and spoke to staff members there about how much they require per year from donations just to keep the place going. It’s £5.1 million and upon hearing that I felt like I must do my bit into helping them reach that target.
So it was there I decided to run the Chester Triple. I don't quite know how I'm going to do it yet as the 11 mile I ran felt like I ran the world but one thing I do know is i WILL do it regardless of how hard and challenging the coming months are.
I'm going to run this page until I have completed the last race in October. All I'm asking for is a small donation even if it's just a pound or two after payday. Just to keep this amazing place going you never know if you or a family member will need the hospice one day. Any donation will be truly welcome or even some humble support on the race days will be greatly appreciated (I'm going to need it )
Thankyou for reading and donating if you have and thankyou the hospice of good Shepherd, don't change or stop anything you’re doing!
