Hospital and recovery fund for Clayton Belcher
Donation protected
Dear friends, family and whoever may be so generous to donate to this cause. This account was created to lessen the financial burden for the family of Clayton and Alyssa Belcher.
As some of you may know, Clayton went in to the ER on July 4th during the height of COVID-19 after feeling sick and not eating for 2 days prior. He was diagnosed with pneumonia and sent home that same day with a prescription for antibiotics. Over the course of 12 hours, his condition just got worse until he wasn’t getting enough oxygen throughout his body and he was not able to walk on his own. He began turning blue and could hardly speak between his rapid breathing. He was brought to the ER again on the evening of July 5th and was put on a ventilator right away. He was diagnosed with ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome) and Biventricular Heart Failure. They found damage in both sides of his lungs and in his heart.
After over a week in the ICU, Clayton has continuously been fighting his best and the cardiologist has been happy with his heart recovery. However, Clayton has not been able to come off the ventilator and the doctor said it will take time for his lungs to heal. On July 15, the trauma and surgery doctors had suggested to put a tracheostomy tube in Clayton which they reassured should be more comfortable and will hopefully let him wean off the oxygen better. Clayton has a long road of recovery ahead with healing his lungs and getting stronger over time with the help of physical therapy, but is always motivated to be home to be with his wife and all his family that’s been praying for him every day.
Due to the pandemic, his wife has been let go of her full time job and Clayton no longer has any days left for his paid leave. We just want to thank everyone ahead of time who have taken the time to read his story and any and all donations are greatly appreciated. All donations will be used to pay hospital bills and therapy to help Clayton get his strength back.
