Support for Leah Weber's Stroke Recovery
Donation protected
On Saturday, July 2nd, Leah Weber suffered a massive stroke. She lost all feeling in her left side and could barely see because of how dizzy she was. She was taken to Antigo hospital, where she was given a drug that dissolves blood clots. Her blood pressure was upwards in the 200/100 range. She showed improvement after being given the drugs and was then transported to Aspirus Hospital in Wausau. She is still in the ICU. They have run many tests, including multiple CT Scans, an MRI, and an Ultrasound of her heart. She has been on a series of trial and error medications. It was confirmed that her stroke was due to hypertension. She is stable at the moment but is in extreme pain because of the damage to her brain. She gained most of her strength and movement back in her left side, but has not been able to walk yet. Due to the trauma to her brain, she is extremely dizzy all the time and because of that, she doesn't open her eyes much. She isn't able to talk a whole lot due to weakness and pain in her head. There is a possibility of her being discharged within a few days; however, she won't be going home just yet. Once discharged, she will need to be in an inpatient physical therapy facility to work up the strength to walk again. That could be 3 weeks or longer. It all depends on how quickly her brain can heal and get back to normal. The doctors said they are confident she will recover fully, but it will take a while.
With this comes a financial hardship between hospital bills, trips between Wausau and Green Bay, and time off work for her long-term boyfriend, Jesse. It's unknown when Leah will be able to return to work. Between the two of them, they have 3 kids between the ages of 6 and 9. Any amount will help.
