Dear friends and family of Hostel Fish,
First and foremost, we would like to thank you all so very much for your continued support throughout our nearly 5 years of being open. The progress we’ve made could not have been possible without the love from our incredible community. At the heart of Hostel Fish, is the fact that we are a true crossroads of the world. People pass through our doors from every walk of life, and every corner of the globe-- and that is special. As fellow travelers, luckily, we are able to establish a special connection with our vibrant and diverse clientele, through an impassioned common thread. In many ways, Hostel Fish is more of a culture, a mindset, a way of life than a small, local business. What fully rounds out Hostel Fish’s “hidden gem” charm, is that our bar- The Exchange Rate- is also open to the public. We have many friends from the neighborhood apartments and other local businesses, who consider Hostel Fish their home bar. The end-product of world travelers relaxing at our bar and making friends with our regulars, is what distinguishes Hostel Fish and makes us so eclectic.
Secondly, we hope that everyone who is a part of our extended family is safe and healthy. We are living through unprecedented, turbulent times, and trying to make the best of it. Please show your friends and family love and appreciation, and do everything you can to safeguard yourself from the contraction, and subsequent-spread, of the COVID-19 virus. We truly hope that with the change of weather, and people taking social-distancing seriously, things will return to normal soon. This is a special time of year for Lower Downtown. People should be shaking off their winter blues, and congregating in roof-top bars with short-sleeves, sundresses, and smiles; The Rockies season should be generating a familiar buzz, and the dogwood trees should be offering shade under a warming sun.
Unfortunately, until those fairer days return, when we can come back together safely and responsibly, Hostel Fish has been among the many, many local businesses who have had to put a hiatus on all things. It breaks our heart to suspend operations and doing what we love, but even more so that we are forced to take the heavy-hearted action of temporarily laying off our dedicated employees, all of whom have put so much into the business. People like Corwin, Chelo, Tim, Grace, and our stellar work-stay group, Mark, Marissa, and Hannah, are truly the people on the front lines of guest relations. Without them, Hostel Fish would cease to be one of the most highly-regarded hostel experiences in the country. Through the duration of this closure, we humbly come back to the community with which we have enjoyed such a rapport, to ask for help. Any possible donation that helps keep our work-family afloat during these trying times is greatly appreciated. No donation is too big or too small, and all proceeds will go directly to our staff.
In exchange for your generous donations, we’d like to offer up some rewards to be redeemed at Hostel Fish when we all recover from this crazy time.
