Hot Meal for Lorain County Homeless Population
Donation protected
Hello, everyone!
Thank you for taking time to view this fundraiser. Food insecurity is a growing problem for many men, women, and children living in Lorain County. The homeless population is especially vulnerable and their needs are heightened by the current pandemic. At this time, there are approximately 125 people being serviced in 80 hotel rooms in Lorain County. While it is a struggle to provide bagged, non-perishable items to these individuals, the option for a hot meal is essentially non-existent at this time.
While working with vulnerable populations, we have witnessed first hand how big of an impact one hot meal can have. Homeless individuals do not have a kitchen to prepare food, and the most cost effective foods they have access to are often times laden with fat, salt, and sugar; essentially having little or no nutritional value. A hot meal can bring comfort and temporary respite to those facing extreme adversity.
Our goal is to raise $1500 to provide 200 hot meals to homeless men, women, and children living in Lorain County. 100% of the money we raise will go directly to food cost and labor for preparation and delivery.
The meal will include:
Spaghetti w/ Sauce & Meatballs
Garlic Toast wrapped in foil
Green Beans
Desserts
To-to Boxes
Bottled Soda & Water
We hope to provide two hot meals with the money we raise during the coldest time of the year. The food will be delivered in packaged boxes, completely safe and following COVID 19 health guidelines. Each meal breaks down to approximately $7.50 per meal, so no donation is too small. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your contribution to help fight food insecurity and spread some love and compassion during such difficult times. We appreciate you!
With gratitude,
Kyle Suerth, MBA, Aramark, General Manager, K-12, Education
Katie Krueger, BSW, Genesis House, Shelter Advocate, Treasurer North Shore High School
Eddy Marflak, MAP Facilitator, Genesis House, COVID Response Crisis Counselor, Elyria YWCA
Jenny Hall, BSW, LSW, Genesis House, Shelter Advocate
Rachel Carr, BSW, Case Manager, Group Facilitator, Parent Counselor, Catholic Charities
