Hot Meals for Helene Survivors
Donation protected
Hey folks. We are Matt and Erica, the mom-and-pop shop owners of Red Fiddle Vittles in Asheville, NC. We are a catering company that specializes in preparing high quality food made with local ingredients for large numbers of people.
Our region was devastated by Hurricane Helene and we are currently in the infancy of a very long recovery ahead. Getting resources and food to those affected has been extremely challenging.
We have the skills, facility, and capacity to produce thousands of meals in very short order. All we need are the resources to procure ingredients and to pay staff to prepare the food. We source the majority of our ingredients locally and are a Certified Living Wage employer, so your donations will be directly reinvested into our community.
An emergency shelter in a building across the street from our shop has been established. Our first initiative is to supply three hot meals a day to this shelter. It is currently set up to provide housing for up to 125 survivors, including those with acute medical needs. Shelter staff and volunteers also need to be fed.
We are currently seeking donations and support to launch this effort. We are collaborating with area farms, food producers, and chef friends to coordinate an impactful response and get some tasty vittles to folks who have lost everything. We believe food is love and are eager to put our skills and resources to use for good.
Thank you for your generosity in supporting our community and our region at this time. This is a desperate and dire situation and we will not be able to maximize our capacity without your support.
