Hotline (CSUN senior thesis)
What is Hotline?
Hotline is a CSUN senior thesis project, in the format of a 4 episode web series.
Hotline follows the journey of Olivia, a self-centered and privileged brat, as she is forced to work in a hotline solely dedicated to helping customer service workers.
Ever since she moved in with her friend Brittney, Olivia has forgotten everything her immigrant and hardworking parents have taught her about life. Heartbroken, Olivia’s dad has no other option than to cut her off until she learns the value of hard work. However, if she’s able to keep a job for three months, he may consider taking her back.
Learning not only to listen to people’s problems but also give them advice and support is no easy task for Olivia. Not only that! But if she gets 3 bad reviews, she is fired. In this web series’ 4 first episodes, Olivia must confront her own privilege and the environment that allowed her to be ignorant to it for so long. Inside of Hotline, Tuesday and Drew are assigned an almost impossible task: to help Olivia become a good worker.
Hotline gives another perspective into the customer service world. With comedy and humor, we delve into the life of customer service workers as they deal with irrational and demanding customers who, coincidentally, behave in the same way Olivia has her whole life.
