Houaphan Province School Project

Stockton Presbyterian Church (NJ) is collaborating with Aqua Survey, Inc. (NJ) to build a block and mortar library and a meeting hall for a regional secondary education “campus” in Houaphan Province, Laos. We have previously successfully built two primary school buildings in impoverished jungle villages in Laos. Currently, about 350 students are attending the Houaphan education campus. This campus is the equivalent of a regional high school in the United States. The students come from over a dozen villages.

Laos is impoverished for many reasons, including that it is landlocked and riddled with over 80 million unexploded bombs leftover from the Vietnam War which continue to accidentally detonate on a weekly basis. This important project will better the lives of the children living in this region who will be able to meet as a community and utilize a library.

 

Due to labor being extremely affordable in Laos, both the library and the meeting hall will cost only $48,000 to build. Over $15,000 has already been gifted to the project. Our goal is to raise at least $33,000 more through Go Fund Me and to have $48,000 on hand to begin school construction this October. Included in this number are desks, chairs, bookcases, tables, electric, lights, fans, and heat pumps.

Platinum donors (15 K) can name the library or hall building.

Gold donors (7 K) will have their names listed on both buildings' plaques.

Silver donors (2 K) will have their names on library bookcases.

Bronze donors (1 K) will have their names on hall or library tables .

If additional funds are raised, they will be used to purchase books for the library.
