House Fire on Chief Drive, Total Loss
Donation protected
Life can completely catch you off-guard sometimes. I came into 2021 hopeful that good things were in store for me and my family. There have been some recent challenges that I cannot overcome alone. In February I contracted COVID-19 and was unable to work. My symptoms worsened to the point that I developed pneumonia and had to be hospitalized. While in the hospital, my care team discovered an issue that required emergency surgery. I was released from the hospital on March 7th, to recuperate at home for a week, before being evaluated to return to work. Between being self-employed unable to work, and the mounting medical expenses, things were already starting to get tight. On Wednesday, March 10th at 5am, devastation struck when my home caught fire.
More than the loss of the house is the loss of all the memories, the heirlooms, the history of our family. Fortunately, my family was able to escape without serious injury, although we did lose two pets to the flames. Unfortunately, the adjuster has declared the house a total loss and deemed all of our possessions as unsalvageable.
While this is a devastating loss, I know that I am going to rebuild from this but I am going to need help. While insurance will cover the biggest loss (the house) there are a lot of other expenses that I wasn't prepared for. No one can be prepared to lose everything but the clothes on their back. We are currently staying with family, but we need to find a more long term solution while we work through the process of rebuilding our home. We need to replace the things we use everyday - the clothes we wear, the dishes we eat off, the beds we sleep in. We need to cover the bills that keep coming in. The number of details to consider is overwhelming. I will have to take additional time off to deal with insurance companies and adjusters and finish recuperating. I take pride in being a hard worker and it is hard know that I cannot be out hustling to make money, and that is why I am asking for whatever help you can offer. Any contribution you make to help us while we prepare to start over would be a blessing and we thank for your the love, prayers, and support we have already received.
