House Fire in Paramus NJ
Donation protected
Friday morning a fire broke out at the home of Beatrice & Janice Mahr ( Mother & daughter). Janice & Beatrice have lived in this house their whole lives. The home contained all of their personal & cherished belongings, which have now been lost.
In the early hours of Friday morning (07/14/23), lightning struck a nearby pole and traveled straight into Janice's bedroom where she was sleeping. Janice woke up surrounded by flames and managed to call out to her 95-year-old mother to leave the home immediately. Where she subsequently met her outside and ran to the neighbors to call the police.
Beatrice is a very active member of the Paramus community and her church. Janice and her mom are very kind and giving people, Janice is active in the local Audubon Society and is an avid animal & wildlife lover. She has spent most of her career working with and growing Perennials for Metropolitan Plant Exchange and now Metropolitan Farm in Closter. She also cares for the animals at the Farm which include 2 Maine Coon cats, goats, chickens, guinea hens, sheep, and alpacas.
This will not be an easy time for Janice and Beatrice. They will need all of the help that we can offer and are very deserving of it as well. They truly are amazing people. Thank you in advance, if you are not able to donate please share with friends and family.
