House of the Lord Jesus in Senegal ✝ ♥

"But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” - Joshua 24:15
Dear Reader,
We are the Diatta family. Djikouna is from Senegal, and Joanne is from the Netherlands. We met and married in Senegal, where Joanne was serving as a missionary.
In late 2020, we moved to the Netherlands for the birth of our first child. Now, we have two children.
In December of last year, God began to speak to us about returning to Senegal to spread His light in the darkness. Initially, Djikouna was hesitant. Here, he can provide for his family, but returning to Senegal raised questions about our livelihood. However, we decided to obey God's call, trusting that He will provide for all our needs.
We are now building a house—a place that will be open to everyone, filled with God's love, peace, and light. We envision it as a space for Bible study, prayer, and faith-building. Hopefully, in the future, this house will also serve as a venue for church services.
Joanne has always served in missions before becoming a mother, and Djikouna has worked only a few years in Europe. Consequently, we lack the funds to complete the house. We have used the little money we saved over the years, but it is not enough. We would be incredibly grateful if you would consider supporting us so that God's light can shine in Senegal.
Many thanks, and may God bless you!

Here, you can see the plan of the house we are building in Senegal. There are also photos of our progress in construction. We will keep updating you with every significant step to let you know how far we've come.
If you can't help us financially, you can always pray for us. Thank you for any form of support!

We believe that God is calling us to the following:
Bringing back lost sons and daughters
Many people we know, including our beloved friends and family, have stagnated in their faith. We want to continue building on the relationship that already exists with them. We hope to gain their trust by spending time with them and having conversations. We pray and believe that the flame in their hearts will rekindle.
Evangelism
God has blessed Djikouna with a heart and a gift for evangelism. We want to use this gift specifically in our neighborhood and in the village where Djikouna comes from. We aim to do this by spending a lot of time with the people, building relationships, having conversations, visiting them, or inviting them to our home.
Encouragement and strengthening
For those open to the Gospel and who want to grow in their faith, we open our home to gather together. To spend time with each other, explore the Bible, pray, share testimonies, and build and strengthen faith. Building on this, we hope to eventually hold Sunday services with the goal of bringing these people closer to God, strengthening their faith, and freeing them from spiritual burdens that hinder their walk with God.

What is our dream?
Our dream is to have a home where God's presence is felt and where people can come to know Him (better). A place of light in the darkness. This is why we have started building a house. We hope and pray that it will be a welcoming place where people feel at home, where they can come with their questions and problems, and where they can get to know Jesus more deeply.
We want to use this house to seek God's presence through worship, word, and prayer, both in groups and individually. We also pray that unbelievers will experience God's love, warmth, light, peace, and freedom here. Additionally, we hope this will become our own place where we can retreat, spend time with God without being disturbed, and where our children feel safe and comfortable: our home.
