HOUSEHOLD BOOKS - Literary Venue and Bookstore
Donation protected
A new type of bookstore for people who love the old type of bookstore.
Household Books is a project designed to give Cincinnati a destination bookstore and performance venue with a built-in social equity component. By contributing to Household Books, you would be providing much-needed startup funds (for space and equipment) and helping to launch a space that is a celebration of the culture of the book and a home for local artists. With a focus on curation and community, diversity and inclusion, and more than a healthy dose of rock n roll, Household Books is a collective act of imagining that will add to Cincinnati's thriving bookstore scene.
Household Books is the idea of Bobby Minelli, a writer, musician, and lifelong bibliophile with experience that ranges from the rebirth of the craft beer industry to nonprofit management. In Cincinnati, Bobby worked as the Director of Marketing and Community Outreach for the Friends of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County. Through Household Books, he plans to continue to contribute to the organizations that keep Cincinnati's reading communities vital.
Household Books will be a fresh new take on the bookstore model with features including-
Membership - You won't need a membership to shop at or support Household Books, but if you choose to be a member, you will receive pre-paid store credit at the beginning of each month, which you spend whenever you like. The membership is a way of supporting a local business ahead of time and choosing which stories suit your personal interest. Membership will be a community-building feature of the brand that will help directly engage supporters with artists (live music, comedy, storytelling events) and other book lovers (book clubs, discussions, and personalized recommendations), as well as a way for Household to offer additional benefits (giveaways, exclusive access to our space, and more) to our supporters.
Household Book Fairs - Multiple times a year, Household Books will bring together organizations that promote literacy and the culture of the book in the Cincinnati area and host free book fairs. Young students will receive tickets to exchange for free books, and the event will be a celebration promoting the joy of books, book-filled spaces, reading, and the agency to choose one's own story.
Thank you for taking the time to check out this project, it is a labor of love, and we hope it is the beginning of a long and collaborative journey to celebrate books and community in the city of Cincinnati.
