Houses in Canaan, Haiti

Haiti was struck by a devastating earthquake in 2010.  Many millions of dollars were raised. but very little reached those in need. I have been working for the past 2 years feeding orphans and sending them to school.

Recently I met 2 young adults whose father was killed in the earthquake and mother was injured to were she is extremely fragile. An Uncle had been most of their basis needs, He recently passed away from an infection that got out of control, that would have been so simple to cure here in the US. There were 9, but now 8 people have been living in what they call a tent(see picture) Josnel has been slowly building a new home with very limited resources.

My newest endeavor is to raise the funds for him to complete his small home and give more practical living quarters to his extended family of 8. I will send him and his sister to complete their education then we are working on an enterprise to earn money for the future.

Additionally after completing the current house we will continue to raise funds to build more homes. I am working directly with both a Catholic Priest and a Baptist Pastor to help coordinate my efforts in Haiti  as they are on the front lines everyday serving the poor.

Through their combined efforts and mutual goals to serve those in need we can be assured that the funds are used wisely and properly to allow us to build safe well built structures.

The need is now the timeline is immediate.

For 2 years now I have pursued helping many in Haiti spending a lot of my personal funds to make it happen. My personal income does not let the outcome happen quick enough so I need to seek out the help of others to seek the dreams of as many as we can serve come to reality.

I have learned in the past 2 years that many have lost all hope and are just passing the days as best they can in their extreme poverty. By choosing young adults who still have the drive, the faith and the energy to see this through to completion.

I communicate multiple times each and everyday with all the parties. I also am working on situations that will allow us to break the bonds of poverty by making each extended family self reliant and through this self reliance create resources that will allow us to expand our services and in the end more positive and long term results.

We rely strongly on the faith these people maintain throughout all this adversity and use that bond to reinforce their efforts to succeed.
The smallest contribution will grow with each similar contribution added to the fund. Each block in a house costs $1.51 and it will take  1300 blocks just for the exterior walls.

I thank you in advance for your help in making life better in the poorest country in the western Hemisphere.
