Houses Urgent Repair after Beirut Explosion
Donation protected
Beirut has been struck with a devastating catastrophe reducing much city to ruin. Many people are missing still, with a rising death toll last recorded at 1000 and counting, countless people are still missing, and tens of thousands of people left without shelter.
We are Razan and Sara, both living in Beirut and under shock still. We are both architects and run our own design and wood workshop.
We went immediately on the ground repairing doors for free in the way we know best. We started receiving immense amount of calls asking for help to safeguard the homes.
However, in light of what we’ve seen on the ground, the amount needed to fix is way beyond our funding capacity as a small business, and as individuals. We ask you to support us as we continue our work to get people back in their homes.
Breakdown of Costs:
Basic Entrance Door Cost: $200 including wood, paint, hinges, labor
Interior Doors: $100 including wood, paint, hinges, labor
Windows: Depending on fitted size
Execution Plan:
Mission 1:
Immediate response and closing off people’s doors (current situation)
Mission 2:
We gathered a team of volunteers to pin buildings down on google maps, snap photos of the buildings, collect data on how many apartments per building, entrance door count, interior door count, glass façade (window) count.
Mission 3:
Venture out to assess how we can refurbish people’s homes tackling basic furniture including but not limited to: kitchens, beds, closets, couches, dining tables.
