Hi, this is Buddy Hill, James Powers has been my best friend

since High School. As many of you know, James was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (a form of early onset of Alzheimers) in October 2017. I have been assisting Laura in navigating the management of James' care as he has continually and rapidly declined in cognitive function. At the direction of James' cognitive psychiatrist, we moved James into assisted living in Brighton Gardens, Brentwood. He quickly moved into the memory care unit and his expenses kept dramatically increasing due to more and more needed care. At that time, James was receiving private disability income which covered most of his expenses. However, the private insurance ended in November 2022. We were forced from a monetary standpoint to move James to The Opal, Nashville, which accepts Medicaid. We have been diligently pursuing Medicaid approval since December. We are in the appeal process with Medicaid at this time. James does not receive enough in Social Security to pay for his current room, board and care. The Opal has recently issued an eviction notice if we do not pay for his. past bills; and, we need approximately $20,000 to do so.

Any help for James' care, as a friend or family member will be very much appreciated. James will not be able to understand or respond to your help in his current condition, and he would be loath to ask for help, but he needs our help at this point in his life.
