Housing Assistance for “Eagle Spirit Woman”

My name is Jerry Buie and I have known Nancy “Eagle Spirit Woman” for nearly 30 years. She has been my teacher, elder and grandmother as I know she is to many reading this e-mail. I met Nancy in my first Naraya Ceremony in New York City and was immediately touched by the power she yields as an elder and medicine person. Perhaps you have witnessed her in work, ceremony or been touched by the medicine and magic she brings to our sacred gatherings?

Nancy came home from the New England "Dance for All People" ceremony, where she found a notice that her rent was going to be increased and that she had till the end of December to relocate. In effect, they served her an eviction notice, as Nancy is unable to meet the monthly rent increase with her fixed income.

Nancy’s apartment is modest and has been her home for the last 7 years. Nancy lives a simple life and a life of service. She lives on a fixed income that this type of fluctuation in rent requires her to relocate.

Nancy needs emergency funding to relocate. The vision is that she finds a house with property. A home for her Orishas, her lodge, and the privacy to do the work that she has so graciously given to others. Those of us who have been to the various rituals and ceremonies that Nancy participates understand that she is readily available to serve others when called.

The funding established through this effort will be utilized to help Nancy secure new housing so as to avoid homelessness.

The funding will prioritze deposits or a downpayment on a new location. These funds will support the necessary cost with relocation and will be managed by Jerry Buie who lives in Utah.

Nancy lives and intends to continue to live in New York.
