Housing Support for Student

Hi everyone.

I am begging for housing support for one of our beloved students (V).

As you may remember, our school, The Pearl focuses on supporting and schooling students unable to thrive in a traditional school system. Most of the time, these are students who are LGBTQIA and/or neurodivergent. We provide schooling no matter the financial circumstances.

The Pearl is hands-down the best school I've worked at--because I feel like we really see students' humanity and take ALL their needs into account when trying to teach them. For example, we are very aware that children can't learn without a safe environment, food, and housing. Those are the basics. After the basics are covered, then kids can learn.

Therefore, its crucial that we pull together to help V. V is a sophomore at our school. She is one of three sisters. Mom is a single parent working hard to supply all the basics. But as everyone knows, financial insecurity can hit all families differently, and V's family has been particularly impacted.

V has big dreams. She plans on graduating from high school with her own business. One of her goals at The Pearl has been to study marketing plans, websites, budgets, in order to thrive and be able to help support her family. She is smart and kind--and advocated for her own entry into the school.

When V came to me to help her and her family, I knew I had to try. Please, help me with this. Currently, V and her family are staying with a friend of mom's. Despite this, during the school term, V still somehow managed to stay engaged. She managed to show up to class and she tried hard to finish all her assignments--even when her internet connection wasn't reliable. V hasn't given up. Please help.
