Housing Vulnerable Residents during COVID-19
Tax deductible
Unite a Nation has opened Nehemiah Community House, a Transitional Home for the houseless in South Los Angeles. The goal of the Nehemiah Community house is to repair, rebuild, reform, and refocus lives and the community.
We need your help to provide housing to our most vulnerable populations, our TAY Transition aged youth ages 18-24, and the community. We have one house focused solely on housing young girls. Some of our young girls and community are experiencing homelessness due to violence, sex trafficking, loss of parents, neglect, mental health, and economic hardship. One house is focused on housing males.
In 2020, we saw a 19% increase in homelessness among Transition Age Youth (TAY) Households and Unaccompanied Minors, which includes both individuals 18-24 and members of families headed by persons 18-24. Minor children in TAY-headed families and unaccompanied minors comprise 7% of this population according to LAHSA Homeless Count. Together, we can help. It costs Unite a Nation $900 to house a young person each month.
Structural racism causes black people to be 4xs more likely to experience homelessness. Black/African - American people in LA County are 33.7% of the homeless population while only 7.9% of the overall LA County population. 59% of newly homeless cite economic hardship as main reason for homelessness and 39% cite weakened social network.
We all desire to make a difference in the lives of others, by contributing to Unite a Nation you will make a positive impact on those who need it most, our young girls, boys, and those suffering from mental health. Your donation will help to make sure our communities' basic needs are met like shelter and food.
Additionally, because we are a nonprofit organization, your donation will be matched by GoFundMe. Every dollar you give, GoFundMe will give a dollar. #SmallBusiness
The Mission of Unite a Nation is to change the world by building a social movement and driving positive economic empowerment. Our economic agenda is housing, education, and advocacy.
