Howard Area Community Garden
Tax deductible
Hi Howard Area Community gardeners and friends of the garden!
Welcome to the 2024 gardening season.
You can pay your annual membership donation here. The annual donation is flexible. We ask for a minimum donation of $30-$80 depending on what you can afford. We keep the minimum donation low to make sure that gardening is accessible to everyone regardless of means. If you feel you can contribute a bit more than this, please do. Your donations help pay for waivers for low-income gardeners.
We primarily use donations to purchase mulch and compost for the garden, purchase hoses and tools, pay for maintenance and upkeep, and to keep the sidewalks around the garden free of snow and ice in the winter. We also use donations for special projects, such as building patios and parkway beds.
All donations are held for us by NeighborSpace, the non-profit that provides administrative support and protection for 120 community gardens in Chicago.
More information about NeighborSpace: NeighborSpace is the only nonprofit land trust in Chicago that preserves and sustains gardens on behalf of dedicated community groups. We support community gardens - through property ownership, insurance, water, stewardship, education, tool lending, project planning, fundraising support, troubleshooting and more - so that community groups can focus on gardening and on their community-building vision, generating food, beauty, play, health and safety for their neighborhoods.
