Like you, our lives have been changed a lot in the last few months. We miss our friends, and we miss how life used to be. And, we also know we are very lucky. In time, things will start to return to normal, and we will do our best to take the positives from a challenging time.
Many of our friends and family know Lala who has worked with us since soon after Marli was born. She is part of our family, we are so very grateful to have her in our lives.
A few weeks ago, Lala was telling us about how things are in the Philippines right now. The COVID-19 shutdown has had devastating consequences for some in the area she grew up and beyond. Many families live hand to mouth, and the shutdown has meant they are unable to go to work. People are literally starving, and babies are going without even milk. Their parents are feeding them sugar water out of desperation.
We then heard that Lala's cousin Alex, and his wife Pattie, have been using their own money to buy milk for the babies. This moved us greatly, and we immediately sent some money to help them buy more.
A few days later, we received dozens of deeply moving photos of deeply grateful families we had able to help. The heart of this was that 155 children had milk where they did not before. Now, with your help, we want to do more...
Many of us can feel reluctant to give money to charity, wondering how much of what you give ends up in the intended recipients hands. Well, if you feel moved to help support us here, we can promise you that 100% will go direct to the cause.
£1.50 buys enough powdered milk for one child for a week, so every little really does help. Whatever you feel you can give, we would appreciate your support enormously and Alex and Pattie will use their discretion to help families in crises the best way they can.
