Howl for Nathan

In early December, our dear friend Nathan was the victim of a hit-and-run in Greensburg, PA. He was left on street with skull fractures and a bleeding brain for >20 minutes until he was discovered and rushed to the hospital. He was kept in a coma for several weeks in the ICU as doctors tried to get the bleeding stopped and the swelling down.
Since then, his family and friends have started down a long road. We're still in the early stages. He's been awake and is able to have short conversations, and happily, our boy is buried in there somewhere, but as you'd imagine, there are huge challenges ahead. He's being fed mostly by hand, he doesn't usually know who he's talking to, simple concepts seem to evade him, that sort of thing. It's going to be months, if not years, if he's going to make a recovery. It's all heavy news, sadly.
Nate's an only child, his parents are sitting by his bedside, and it's going to be a long and costly road ahead. Speech and language therapies, physical therapies, legal bills, nursing, medications, adaptive equipment. Hard to budget now, but it's going to be a tremendous strain on his family. So, we're starting this GoFundMe to raise funds for his long term recovery; to alleviate any burden we can for his family, and give Nathan the straightest path forward to recovery. Your donations are so appreciated, will be given 100% to his family (after GoFundMe's small processing fee).
Some friends have started this Facebook Group for various Nathan updates and jokes (we fully expect him to read all of these someday, and you know his sense of humor, so feel free to participate in that vein).
He's at West Penn Allegheny currently, but not really ready for visitors yet. Basic tasks are still big mountains to climb, and peace is a bit of a priority for a healing brain. I'm optimistic there will be plenty of visiting time in the future, especially when it'll be more helpful to help rebuild his memories.
