Early on the morning of 5/21/21, Caleb was leaving work at Amazon when he was involved in a motorcycle accident. We are still in the discovery stage as to how the accident happened.

What I can share is that Caleb was taken to Akron General Hospital. On the scene it was apparent that he had a compound fracture to his left leg, he was talking but confused. He has two broken legs, the left worse than the right. Trauma to the left leg resulted in emergency surgery with orthopedics and vascular. The damage was too great, resulting in a left below the knee amputation. The right leg is in what looks like a cage to protect it and help provide traction until surgery on Monday. The left leg now has a wound vac to pull out any rock, debris and dirt so that it can later be closed.

We are very grateful the surgeons and their skilled hands. He is out of surgery and now in the ICU. He also suffered a laceration to his lungs secondary to multiple rib fracture and they collapsed. He has three chest tubes and is on a ventilator to help him breath. His heart (pacemaker intact), spine, neck all checked out okay and the head CT looked good. When there are more updates we will share them here. Please keep Caleb in your prayers. They have allowed us bedside and we are beyond grateful for God’s watchful eye. Caleb has been through so much in his young life, a sudden cardiac arrest at 17 and now he battles again. He is a warrior and we love him so much!

Madi and Caleb are a young couple that just became engaged and are surrounded by the love of family and friends. But it will take a village from medical bills, counseling, home modifications, medical equipment, physical and occupational therapy and being able to keep their home together they worked so hard to build.

A lot of challenges ahead, but Caleb is one tough young man and what ever can be done to help these two amazing young people out will be so appreciated.

# Update 5/22/21
A new day and another blessed day in his kingdom. Monday plans are to place a rod in his right leg and a lung plate. We really are not sure what will be ahead but we know this road is long. Once he clears the initial hurdles there will be months of extensive rehab and learning to walk again. The process will be long, and we have faith that he will excel. Thank you for all the generous support. We are truly blessed. More information to follow.
