Lisa Landry

Hi my name is Gerard Landry and I'm fundraising for my daughter Lisa Landry.

This is an appeal to the kindness and generosity of fellow parents and others, who have experienced the challenges of a disabled individual.

I am in need of financial assistance for medical expenses, already accrued, and for the burial expenses that will accrue in the future.

My daughter now 53 years old was born with down syndrome. Her life expectancy was deemed 3-5 years old. As you can see, she has outlived that prediction.

She has been under a doctor's care for her entire life, because of diabetes, high blood pressure, and numerous other conditions related to her disability. She has been enrolled in various programs throughout the city in order to enhance her social and emotional development. She has been quite successful in all of them She is well mannered, helpful and cooperative. She has a great sense of humor and is always happy.

Then about a year ago, things began to change. She became very forgetful and lethargic. She showed many signs of not being able to understand simple things and unable to follow directions. Her verbal skills became more and more nonexistent. Eventually the doctor diagnosed her condition as dementia.

She progressively became worse and as if that weren't enough, she developed seizures which required hospitalization on many occasions. She now has Alzheimer's and is currently confined to a nursing home. Her condition is deteriorating, and she is in hospice care.

I am a widower and a senior citizen, who lives on social security. I am financially unable to meet the demands facing me. Any contributions will be sincerely and graciously accepted.
