My fight with Polycystic liver disease

Donation protected
Hello my name is Tina Money. I am a 42 year old mother battling polycystic liver disease. I share a home with my husband and my 8 year old little boy in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where I work in a rehabilitation center as a cook. I’m usually a private person but I feel compelled to tell my story. I’m suffering from a rare genetic condition called polycystic liver disease. Only 1 in 100,000 people will develop polycystic liver disease. My symptoms are extreme bloating from my severely enlarged liver, I have dark urine and clay color stools. I am jaundice at times and I always feel fatigued. I suffer from shortness of breath and very itchy skin due to the blockage in my liver. I had a liver resection almost 2 years ago to remove 30% of liver and my recovery was rough following numerous CT scans and MRIs. I thought I was in the clear when suddenly the disease became more aggressive. I’ve been hospitalized several times and more recently had a percutaneous drainage. My doctors have exhausted our treatment options and a liver transplant is the last resort. I am now in search for a live donor. Since the disease is inherited, many of my family members are not eligible to be donors. So please consider being a donor. Nearly 17,000 people in the United States are waiting on the transplant list. A living donor eliminates the wait time and allows the patient to get transplanted before it’s too late. This procedure will not only change my life, it will save my life. I want to see my son grow up, I can’t imagine his life without me. I sometimes feel like I’m losing the fight, but refuse to surrender to this disease.

This isn’t easy for me. I realize that it is a lot to ask but if anyone reading this, would like to give the gift of life by donating a piece of their liver please inbox me. I only need a piece of of a healthy liver to survive. I am raising money to cover the out of pocket medical expenses and down time for recovery for the donor. This is major surgery and it can take between 4-8 hours. The donor can expect 7 days in the hospital, and 6 -8 weeks for a good recovery. The cool thing is the liver will immediately start to regenerate. I know it’s a lot to ask, but if anyone out there has been touched as a result of reading my story, please consider being my donor. The procedure would be a miracle. I believe angels come in all different shapes, colors, and sizes... please be my angel. Help me to be around to see my child grow up.

I’m in the hospital again with an infection due to the many procedures performed on my liver over the past 4 weeks, but all hope is not lost!

Living donors are being screened and I can have surgery at any time. I am so very hopeful, but I worry about the donor’s expenses during the recovery period...especially now with everything going on with the Coronavirus. Please help us to reach our goals. Make a donation if you can.

If you are unable to make a donation, please say a little prayer for me and my donor or forward my page to your family and friends.

Thank you and God bless you!
