Support for Alicia Wills' Family
Donation protected
On May 22nd, Alicia Wills was tragically shot and killed outside her home by her husband following a domestic violence incident. Her killer is in police custody and awaiting trial, but her family is now struggling with the financial burden of her death. Since her killer was her legal next-of-kin, he is denying her family access to her home and her personal belongings. We have had no ability to access information concerning her will, life insurance, mortgage, banking info, etc. We have had to plan and pay for her funeral with no knowledge of her final wishes and no funding from her life insurance policy or bank accounts. We have had to retain a lawyer in order to gain access to her home and to file a wrongful death suit against her killer. We also will have to make mortgage payments on her home until we can legally access it so that it does not fall into foreclosure. Along with all this, we have had to pay for travel expenses for our family to plan and attend her funeral and to travel to her home city in order to deal with legal matters.
Alicia was a mother to two children and a loving Gammie to three (soon to be four) grandbabies. She was a member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie class of '78 and a dedicated member of the San Antonio A&M Club. She worked as a hospice bereavement counselor in San Antonio and Del Rio, helping other families deal with the pain of loss. She was an "adopted" Mom to dozens of people who relied on her for friendship, love, a hot cup of tea, and spiritual guidance. She loved quilting, football, and God.
