Hrushikesh's campaign for Chirag Hope
Donation protected
I am a 12th grader from Frisco, TX. I have always been motivated to help people in need, which is why I am currently working on creating a positive difference for families and children living in rural India through the projects detailed below. I am the president of the Frisco chapter of the Chirag Hope Foundation. These projects need a significant amount of funding, which is why I hope to raise awareness and garner support for them. While I am raising funds to the best of my abilities through teaching tennis & tutoring younger kids, I am in need of helping hands to reach my goal. Your kind consideration is appreciated!
Any donation is accepted and appreciated! Every penny will count!
My Projects:
Project 1 : Aid 4 Amputees
Team Members: Hrushikesh Abdas and Ritvika Abdas
Impact: Dedicated to providing 500 artificial limbs for the underprivileged in rural India. The average cost of each artificial limb is USD 60
More than two thirds of India’s 1.3 billion inhabitants live in low-income rural areas, where accidents resulting in loss of limbs frequently occur from using unsafe agricultural machinery, working on rail and road construction, or as a result of snake bites. Amputees in India are predominantly male, rural, poor, and in the working age group. As per few estimates, India has more than half a million amputees & tens of thousands are added to the amputee count every year. Rehabilitation support from the Government reaches only a very small proportion of Amputees, leaving others helpless and causing many lose their livelihood
Project 2 : CHIRAG COVID-19 Support to Children & Migrant Workers
Team Members: Hrushikesh Abdas and Ritvika Abdas
Impact: Supply groceries and other daily essentials to 200 plus families with pregnant women.
The biggest lock-down in human history caused 1.3 billion Indians to stay home to avoid the spread of the coronavirus. However, the sentiment for orphans and people in emergency shelters is “We will die of hunger before COVID-19”. Lot of shelters in India have been severely impacted by COVID-19 lockdown. Donors are unable to visit these shelters because of the COVID-19 panic. Most of the shelters are running out of supplies and are unable to provide at least a meal per day. Daily wage/migrant workers have also been hit hard because of lost jobs, unpaid wages and limited food supplies. Because of this, my goal is to support over 200 families with pregnant women and small children with a monthly supply of groceries.
Project 3: The Anganwadi Ambition Project
Team Members: Hrushikesh Abdas and Ritvika Abdas
Impact: Provide children who come from low income families with a pre-school & daycare service
The Anganwadi Ambition Project (AAP) will provide children of 2-5 year old from lower-income families in a rural village with a pre-school & daycare service. This program’s goal is to build a safe and clean place for these kids to spend the day while their parents are at work. The program will work to renovate a school building & also help older kids go to school for a full day instead of staying at home to care for their younger siblings. Goal is to help all children have a clean environment to play and spend the day so that they are not home alone.
