Team USA
Wow where do I begin. My twins have Duchenne MD - this is a very severe muscle wasting disease that affects only boys and is typically diagnosed at around five years of age. The hard part is they look healthy from birth but soon after they started tripping and falling eventually loosing ambulation around the age of 12. Troy and Andrew stopped walking at around 11. This was devastating to them and our family especially because they were jocks in every essence of the word. So when we were introduced to Power Wheelchair Soccer and its community of amazing people our lives changed forever. Starting at the intramural level then on the club it grew into competing around New England. Fast fwd to 2019 after finishing second in the National tourney in Indiana the twins hard work paid off being invited to try out for Team USA at selection camp in Minnesota. On October 29th their dreams came true both receiving word that they will represent TEAM USA in the world games in Australia in 2022. With this opportunity comes a big financial commitment that includes travel around the USA ten times to practice with the team. Also being disabled comes with other obstacles that most able body people don't have like, transporting the soccer chairs and having proper staff to help care for the twins. I am asking for your help in this amazing opportunity and together we can bring the gold back to the USA. Thank you.
