While 2020 has been a challenging year for all, it has been especially difficult for Matt Bussey and family. After turning 18 and receiving his acceptance to UC Boulder, it was discovered that Matt had a cancerous brain tumor on January 28th.
After two surgeries, six weeks of daily radiation, and multiple rounds of chemotherapy, they were able to rid his brain and spine of the cancer. The cancer metastasized, however, and while the metastases have been reduced, they still remain.
Matt has an underlying medical condition that has caused life-threatening side effects during his course of treatment. Addressing this condition has the potential to make all the difference in his prognosis.
Throughout his treatments, integrative medicine has also been helping Matt heal. Deeper research has given new avenues of hope and promises a more targeted, less toxic approach to further treatment. Unfortunately, many of these life-saving integrative treatments come with a heavy price tag not paid for by insurance.
