Help the Davis Family

Rick Scott Davis lost his long and heroic battle with cancer on November 27, 2022 (at the age of 58), leaving behind his wife (Shellie Hess Davis) and twin boys (Jack and Park Davis, age 13). Rick was a resident of Elizabeth, New Jersey, where Shellie was a teacher and adored by her students. They were actively involved in the community, where the twins play hockey with the Cranford Hockey Club. Despite the family's difficulties over the last several years, they always managed to have a smile on their faces and offered to help others in any way they could.

I understand the loss of a husband and father. My twelve-year-old twins lost their father to a tragic accident four years ago. I instantly became a widow and single mother. A friend established a go-fund-me page for my family. The contributions helped with immediate and unexpected expenses and helped ease the financial burden. I was forever grateful. I want to do the same for the Davis family.

Most of us can identify with how difficult the loss of a parent can be, especially for children just entering their teenage years. Young families are unprepared for this type of loss. The costs of funeral arrangements, loss of income, and future expenses, including college education, are often overwhelming and can have catastrophic effects on a family.

Minimal, if any, life insurance is available for those with cancer. Collectively, we as a community can show support and care for the Davis Family by meeting their immediate and unexpected expenses due to this untimely death.
