MAFC was formed in 1950. We are one of the oldest and largest AFL clubs in Queensland catering to juniors, seniors, masters in both male and female. We support the learning and development of players wishing to play the sport in an age, family friendly environment. Our club has a great history of nurturing players at all standards with a high rate of player’s progressing to the elite level. We also have a responsibility of ensuring the quality of the facility supports this & our directors are working hard to achieve this.
Over the last few years the club, thru the hard work of it's volunteers we have commenced renovations. The work involved has been reconfiguration of the interior of the club house which included painting, flooring, new change rooms for the home and away teams, new white picket fence on the main oval, drainage of the terrace and oval, northern end of the oval goal netting and a number of other things. Some of this work has been funded by grants that the club received and the rest has been funded by club fundraising, sponsorships and the in-kind work by its volunteers.
This room is used by all members and players for team meetings, committee meetings, club functions and is also used by the local community as a meeting space & function space. In the next few weeks a dividing wall will be built by some of our senior team players and the whole room will be given a fresh coat of paint. The existing furniture in this area is more than 15 years old and is showing its age (wobbly tables/ chairs that are wripped/stained). Thru the hard work of some of our volunteers we have been able to raise enough money from weekly fundraising to purchase new tables for this room.
To complete this room we now need to purchase chairs to go with the new tables and this is where we need your help. The chairs that have been picked are $69 each and we will require 130 chairs. If we waited until we have raised enough money via our weekly fundraising it would take us up to 12 months. We would really like to use the funds raised by our weekly fundraising over the next 12 months to purchase new equipment for our junior players. So we ask, are your able to help our great footy club?
You can make a small donation or purchase a chair outright as all money raised for this project helps us finish this room and go back to what we do best, the stuff on the field, footy!
All of our players from our under sixers to our senior players and masters teams plus all of our members will be forever thankful for your generosity and support of our club.
