Save Centennial Fire

Who We Are
We are a group of concerned citizens with a mission to address the issue of Lino Lakes City Council’s decision to abandon the Centennial Fire District and attempt to create a new fire department.

The Lino Lakes mayor and city council made this decision with no plan on how to build a fire department and no experience in firefighting.

We have no affiliation, and our goal is to educate our neighbors in our community (Centerville, Circle Pines, and Lino Lakes) about the negative impacts of this decision.

Why We Need Funding
We are currently in a legal battle with the City of Lino Lakes to take this decision to withdraw from the Centennial Fire District to the People.  The current battle is so important that we actually had to include the Secretary of State of Minnesota in the lawsuit to ensure immediate compliance via a Writ of Mandamus!

We gathered enough Lino Lakes citizen signatures on a petition that would force this decision to be on the next general election ballot in November.  The Mayor and City Council of Lino Lakes rejected the petition on a weak technicality.

The first lawsuit is already in the courts, and a decision should be reached on August 21st.  The Centennial Fire Relief Association has already donated nearly $10,000 of their general funds.  This is not tax-payer money, but rather the personal dues paid by each of the 58 firefighters in the Association.   They will need to contribute at least $5,000 more in legal fees, and then more money when the issue is on the ballot to distribute flyers and information to the public.

The firefighters of the Centennial Fire District are now planning to pay up to $20,000 of THEIR OWN MONEY to fund a battle against their own city government.  The firefighters won't lose jobs if this decision goes through...they are only concerned about the safety of their friends and neighbors they protect every day.  They believe this decision will threaten the safety of their community.

Your donations will repay the firefighters the money they are spending from their own pockets to protect their neighbors in Lino Lakes.  Over half of the members of the Centennial Fire District are from Circle Pines and Centerville, and they have pledged their money to protect their neighbors in Lino Lakes!

Who Supports Us
We have built a grass roots coalition of our community members, Lino Lakes City Charter Commission, Centennial Fire Relief Association, surrounding fire departments, Minnesota Voters Alliance, and nearly 1,000 Facebook followers.  There are people asking about the issue in every town across Minnesota now that we're in all the TV and newspaper spots.
