Hubert's Gotta Go! (Love Jo through the cancer)

From Jo's Social Media:
"I've been told by a good friend that you can't good news/bad news a cancer diagnosis, so here goes: I have colon cancer.
The current situation is that I have a 5cm mass in my descending colon, who we've named Hubert. Surgery to remove Hubert will be scheduled for [December 9] and once the pathology reports come back after surgery, we'll know what stage my cancer is and if we'll need to do any other treatment beyond surgery.
In general, I'm okay. We found Hubert later than I'd like (he'd be a lot easier to remove if he was still a polyp), but the surgical oncologist said that surgery can be curative and at this point, the most likely scenario is that surgery is all we'll need. We'll know more after some scans and, again, after the surgery.
In the meantime, ...talk to your family members about their colons this week! If you've got a history of colon cancer in the family, start talking to your doctor about a colonoscopy. They might tell you you're too young, but hey, I am too.
Also, do your part to protect people like me who really can't afford to get sick with a cold, flu, or COVID this winter. Wear a mask in public, wash your hands, and test if you have symptoms. CVS has free at-home COVID tests if you have insurance.
Treat your bodies kindly, friends."
