Hudson River: Source to Sea Expedition

Donation protected
Eight high school students from all over the country are going to complete a 15-day, 390-mile human-powered traverse of the Hudson River. The first offering of the Hudson River Source to Sea Expedition is the result of a collaboration between Mountain Goat Movement and the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Adirondack Hamlets to Huts. The Expedition Team, which includes educators and scientists, will hike up and over Mount Marcy, the highest point in NY State and past Lake Tear of the Clouds, the point source of the Hudson River. They will then canoe, raft, bike, and sea kayak over two weeks to the sea, finishing their journey at Jersey City. The team will collect water samples all along the way to analyze the health of the Hudson River and produce a paper summarizing the results of their water quality study. Each student will detail their experiences in a journal. Emmy-winning filmmaker John Barnhardt will produce a feature documentary of this transformative learning adventure. This film will help inspire others to become curious explorers, citizen scientists, stewards, and global citizens. All donations are tax-deductible.

The funds will support students and trip expenses such as food, transportation, lodging, and rental gear.
