Hi, I'm Nicole...Hudson's auntie. Hudson has L-CMD--a severe form of muscular dystrophy, affecting children. It is a fatal, muscle-wasting disease that progresses by weakening the skeletal muscles as well as weakening the heart and interfering with its proper operation. We all know that Hudson is the strongest and bravest child we've ever had the pleasure of loving and he brings absolute joy to anyone that meets him whether it's through his dancing (which he's unable to do now), his endless jokes, his sassy attitude, his loving cuddles; he lights up any room he's in.
Hudson was admitted into the Seattle Children's Hospital on November 14 and is experiencing heart failure. He is currently in the ICU recovering from a surgery to get a PICC line--an IV that will deliver meds directly to his heart that they can also draw labs from. Hudson has been tortured with blood draws, so this should bring some relief from that. He's quite a high anesthesia risk with his heart failure, so they weren't able to put him totally under but they have a great team working on him and watching very closely as he recovers from that.
Overall, he is feeling a bit better with milrinone infusions. He is eating, drinking, and has less pain. He even listened to his music today and was singing along His heart is still all over the place in regards to arrhythmia, PVCs, Vtach events, and how hard it is squeezing. We have to take it day by day and test result by test result.
But Hudson's journey is far from over due to his heart failure (more on that to come in update posts).
So let's move on to how you can help. Hudson will be in the hospital for Thanksgiving and most likely Christmas (could even go into the new year). Right now my brother Travis and sister-in-law KaLinda are spending every moment in the hospital...away from their home and their jobs. I would like to help offset the cost of not only the hospital but also be able to provide anything they might need during this difficult time whether it goes towards house or car payments, Nintendo Gift Cards etc.
Please take the time to donate, however large or small, to Hudson's fund and also please SHARE this fundraiser with everyone you know! If you would like to send a card or something to the family directly, please message me . Thank you all for taking the time to read this and for whatever support you feel comfortable in providing.
