A Fundraiser for Employees of Hugo's Tacos
Hugo's Tacos in Los Angeles announced they are closing both their Atwater and Studio City locations in order to keep employees safe. Here is the statement from Hugo's:
"Our Taco Stands are exhausted by the constant conflicts over guests refusing to wear masks. Staff have been harassed, called names, and had objects and liquids thrown at them. A mask isn’t symbolic of anything other than our desire to keep our staff healthy.
Both of our locations are going to take a break and recharge. We’ve loved serving you for the last 15 years and hope the LA community comes together on this issue so we can feel safe and reopen soon. Please stay tuned to our website www.hugostacos.com and @hugostacos on social media for reopening updates.
Thank you to the majority of our guests who are always respectful and kind."
By staying at work, Hugo's Tacos employees were not only providing an essential service in the early days of Covid-19 but also just trying to feed their own families. Now that Hugo's Tacos has closed, we are asking for your support. These funds will be evenly distributed among the workers at both locations to make up for lost wages and hard times due to the closure. A reopening date has not been set.
We greatly appreciate any help and encourage you to spread the word about wearing masks in order to keep EVERYONE safe!
