My name is Adem Byrdsell, I am an athlete and I need your support in my endeavor to carry out my 2nd basketball camp for disadvantaged youth in Liberia. The first camp was an amazing success due to your support. The initial reason for the camp was based on my personal experience living in Liberia for 10 years and playing with amazing kids who simply don’t have access to the trainers and equipment to fully develop their skills and truly excel in sports.

On November 21, 2022, I was involved in a car crash and was hospitalized for 17 days, the first 6 in ICU. I was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury, C5 spinal fracture, severely bruised lungs and two rib fractures. For the first 5 days, a ventilator was my lifeline as my body fought to heal itself with the help of an amazing team of medical practitioners, including my doctors, nurses, and therapists. Today I am on my way to a full recovery, only by the Grace of God. My C5 spinal fracture is healed (after 6 weeks in a neck brace). This experience has made me more determined to elevate my game and help these sprouting ball players elevate their game. While doing this, I also want to share my story and share with these eager younger players, who love the game, that they can overcome any obstacle with hope, faith, and a healthy body, some of the traits that helped me to heal as miraculously as I did. Now, more than ever, I am determined to host the first camp and build it into a program combining healthy living and sports with your help.

This August, the Foundation will host the second camp. It will be an intensive week-long basketball camp for disadvantaged. I am seeking your support to help fund this event. The cost is free to the youth who will participate, and with your generous support, this initiative will happen.
