Hull House Recovery Residences Scholarship Fund
M's Testimonial:
"After 30+ hospitalizations for anorexia nervosa and being on death's door countless times, I finally get to live! As someone on disability for my eating disorder and having Medicare for insurance, I am unable to go to typical residential treatment; thus I have had countless relapses due to ineffective step-down treatment. Finally, after all of these years, I have found a ver generous, compassionate and caring woman, Ann Hull Kuster, who offered me a chance to get out of poverty and oppression from anorexia. I AM an INTELLIGENT woman with so much to offer the world, I have just been under the heavy hand of a debilitating disease. Now, I get a new lease on life to live a life worth living and sharing!"
We seek to raise $10,000 over the next month to support this critical Scholarship Program. We need your help.
Recovery is HARD! Treatment is expensive. Relapse rates are high. People die from eating disorders. That’s why we started Hull House Recovery Residences. We began with seed money from Katie, a client of Ann Hull Kuster, who lost her life to her eating disorder and wanted to invest in helping others. We opened our first home, Katie’s Place, in June of this year with a vision to open many more in the future. We received our 501(c)(3) status as part of our mission to provide affordable recovery housing to all who need it. At Katie’s Place, we provide around the clock support for our 4 participants as they learn how to nourish their bodies and souls: meal prep, shopping, eating, working with their treatment team, attending daily support groups, and, setting and accomplishing daily their recovery goals. Each of our women deserves to be free of her eating disorder so she can find a life worth living; a life worth sharing.
Research shows the longer someone receives treatment, support and accountability, the better their long-term recovery. Hull House Recovery Residences is one of only a few programs in the country offering this type of "sober-living" for people coming out of eating disorder treatment and needing additional, ongoing support. Our scholarships supplement what participants can afford to pay, based on a 6-month minimum stay. Because we are not a treatment program, insurance does not pay, and all fees fall to the participant and her family.
YOUR DONATION WILL HELP ONE OR MORE PARTICIPANTS STAY WITH US FOR AS LONG AS THEY NEED OUR SUPPORT TO FIND LASTING RECOVERY.

Our mission is to "transcend eating disorders, substance use disorders, and dis-ease through Accountability, Connection and Love". The vision of Hull House Recovery Residences is "people of all ages, colors, genders, socioeconomic levels and backgrounds can access the support services they need to find lasting recovery from eating disorders and addictions".
