Humane Society of Pasco Needs a New Building
Tax deductible
Up on a hill, on a beautiful piece of property in Spring Hill Florida, sits a 30 year old trailer with a very important job. This trailer is a temporary home, a safe place, for cats and small dogs who are sick or injured, abandoned or homeless due to the loss of their human. Over the years the trailer has had bandaid repair after bandaid repair, even recovering from an air conditioner fire that damaged an entire wall. The trailer has now reached a point beyond bandaid repairs along with an increased need to house more animals. Because we are a 100% no-kill shelter, animals often stay with us for an extended period of time due to slow adoptions, medical issues or stray holds. We are all volunteers at the shelter and do the very best we can to provide the unlimited love and personal attention to every animal. We remain unfunded in order to remain no-kill and because of this we rely on adoption fees and the generosity of our community to provide each animal with any and all vet care they need. There have been many times the volunteers have reached into their own pockets to provide needed care!.
When you walk out of the back door to the trailer you are greeted by the dogs in the outdoor kennels. Each asking for attention, each hoping you are there to take them home. Although every kennel is large, each having space to play, each having beds and dog houses... the dogs remain in these kennels day & night. During the winter they have blankets, sweaters and tarps are wrapped around the kennels to keep the cold wind out. During the summer and inclement weather they are still in those kennels. The dogs spend their long dark nights dreaming of a couch to sleep on or a comfy bed in the a/c or heat. Our volunteers see to it that each dog gets lots of play time, time to run and visit the others, personal attention and lots of love. What they still need is a safe comfortable place to sleep at night....
We are on a mission to raise $200,000 to begin the construction of a 2000 sq.ft. building on our property. We have several contractors and local businesses who have stepped up to donate their time, resources and even some of the materials to make this building a reality. We need the funds for permitting and materials not being donated. Large cat enclosures, indoor dog kennels, indoor storage that does not require tin cans, a small kitchen area for the volunteers to bring food, adequate laundry area, proper handicap accommodations, on site medical care.... these are the things a new building will provide. We pray this can happen before hurricane season to make sure we have a safe place for not only our animals but the animals of Pasco County!
Please help us reach our goal and make this building a reality! Without our community's support we can not do what we do. ❤
